Family Seeks Justice After Mark Herrin Jr. Tragically Killed in Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accident on Easter Sunday, Suspect Driving White Cadillac Still at Large
REDFORD TWP, Mich. — A family’s grief has turned to desperate longing for justice after Mark Herrin Jr., a beloved son and brother, was killed in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash on Easter Sunday. The tragic accident unfolded at approximately 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of Plymouth and Beech Daly roads, leaving Mark dead and his family searching for answers.
According to Redford Township police, a driver in a white Cadillac struck Mark as he was riding his motorcycle, then fled the scene without offering assistance. Authorities later recovered the abandoned Cadillac in Detroit, but the driver remains unidentified and on the run.
The heartbreaking chain of events began earlier that evening when Mark, 30, visited his mother’s home for an Easter gathering. “They were all here for dinner,” said Terry Herrin, Mark’s mother. “They were all heading out for the night and they all left at the same time.” As Mark prepared to leave, he told his mother, “I love you. Be safe.” Those words would be among the last she would hear from him.
Mark was headed to his father’s house when the collision occurred. Investigators say the driver of the white Cadillac was turning onto Plymouth Road from Beech Daly when the two vehicles collided. Mark’s motorcycle was thrown from the impact and caught fire, with Mark found lying beside it. Emergency crews arrived quickly, but Mark had already succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash.
The Herrin family is reeling from the sudden and senseless loss. “Mark was a kind-hearted person. He loved his family and was always there when we needed him,” Terry Herrin said, tears streaming down her face. “We never thought something like this would happen to our family.”
The Redford Township Police Department has launched a full investigation into the hit-and-run, but the driver responsible remains elusive. Authorities recovered the white Cadillac in Detroit, but no arrests have been made. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as they work tirelessly to locate the suspect.
For Mark’s family, the pain of his loss is compounded by the fact that the person who caused his death has not been held accountable. “We need closure. We need justice for Mark,” said Terry Herrin. “He deserves that. He didn’t deserve to be taken from us like this.”
The hit-and-run has left the community shaken, and many have rallied around the Herrin family in support. Friends, neighbors, and even strangers have reached out to offer condolences, hoping to provide some comfort during this dark time. But for Terry and her family, the wait for justice is unbearable.
“We just want answers,” Terry said. “We want the person who did this to pay for what they’ve done.”
The Redford Township Police Department continues to investigate the case, asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or knows anything about the whereabouts of the suspect to contact them immediately. The Herrin family remains hopeful that the individual responsible for this senseless tragedy will be apprehended soon.
As this investigation unfolds, the Herrin family’s grief is matched only by their determination to see justice served. The pain of losing Mark, a man who was so full of life and love for his family, will never fully heal, but they are determined to find peace through justice.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Redford Township Police Department or to call Crime Stoppers.
