Desperate Search for 16-Year-Old Horizon Jones Continues as Pasadena Mother Fears Teen Is Being Manipulated and Prevented from Returning Home
Pasadena, Texas — The search continues for 16-year-old Horizon Jones, a bright and caring teenager who vanished from her Pasadena home under deeply troubling circumstances. Her mother, Casey Chappel, is pleading with the public for help, expressing growing fears that her daughter may be in danger and under the influence or control of someone who is preventing her safe return.
Horizon was last seen in the Pasadena area several days ago. Her sudden disappearance has left her family distraught and the local community on high alert. According to her mother, Horizon left home without any clear explanation, and since then, communication has been sporadic and suspicious—leading her to believe that her daughter is not missing by choice.
“This isn’t like her,” Chappel said in an emotional video posted to social media. “I truly believe someone is manipulating her, isolating her, and preventing her from coming home. She’s only 16. She needs to be safe. She needs to know we love her and we’re not giving up.”
Local law enforcement is actively investigating the case. While Horizon is technically classified as a runaway under Texas law due to her age, authorities are treating the case with urgency given the possibility of coercion or manipulation by an adult or older individual.
Chappel explained that there have been disturbing hints in recent weeks—changes in her daughter’s behavior, secrecy about online interactions, and signs that someone may have been grooming or influencing her through social media or other platforms.
“She had recently become more withdrawn and defensive when we tried to talk about her online friends,” Chappel said. “Now she’s gone, and I can’t shake the feeling that someone is pulling the strings.”
Horizon Jones is described as approximately 5’4″, with a medium build, long dark hair, and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie and jeans, though her current appearance may have changed. She may be in the greater Houston area or possibly beyond, depending on who she may be with.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has been alerted, and missing person flyers have been distributed throughout the community. The Chappel family has also organized search efforts and continues to update supporters via social media and community groups.
Pasadena Police are urging anyone who may have seen Horizon or has information about her whereabouts to come forward. They are especially encouraging anyone who may have seen her with unfamiliar adults, noticed suspicious behavior, or heard discussions about hiding someone.
“This is a vulnerable young girl who could be in danger,” a Pasadena Police spokesperson said. “Time is critical in cases like these. If you see something, say something.”
As the days stretch on with no confirmed sightings, Horizon’s mother remains determined not to give up hope.
“If you’re out there, Horizon,” Chappel pleaded in her video message, “please know you’re not in trouble. We just want you safe. We love you more than anything.”
Anyone with information is urged to call the Pasadena Police Department at (713) 477-1221 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS. The family has also set up a Facebook page titled “Help Bring Horizon Home” to share updates and coordinate community support.
